Dragg has dropped a brand new single titled “The Mantra.”. It is DRAGG’s 2nd release in 2021, since the full out Acoustic vibe rendition of “Dear Mama” On March13, 2021.
Released with Loud Noise Entertainment/DM Records, the single “The Mantra” wastes no time providing that syndrome where we nod our heads up and down as we get into the beat. The Joburg- born, rising star hits us with a hook full of rich vocal melodies and confident lyrics.
What shows the level of talent Dragg possesses is the transitions he provides from the rich vocal melodies to the all-out rap bars, which is quite impressive. The song provides a lot of Confidence, ‘Big Baller’ energy and can be without a doubt, played on repeat.
One of my favorite parts in the single “The Mantra” occurs at 3:47, where the Stop Breaks occur as Dragg utilizes vocals more aggressively. In fact, the song arrangement is extremely well done, entertaining with vocal changes, transitions, stop breaks, and his vocal bars change so much filled with determination.
Africa-born artists are certainly having a growing impact and influence on the Hip Hop world. One of those at its vanguard is DRAGG, the birth name Lawrence Sibanda, a Johannesburg, South Africa-born Hip Hop artist, writer, and producer, who’s parents were originally from Zimbabwe.
Although his parents eventually migrated to England where he later joined them, DRAGG returned for a brief stay in Zimbabwe and came to realise that Bulawayo and Johannesburg were culturally, linguistically, and musically very interwoven. This diverse background has certainly added to the background and influence behind the music he produces.
